Bait the Wolves

from The Fold by Matt Badger

/

about

Bait The Wolves depicts the final moments of a bereft individual bidding farewell to the sights and sounds of the natural world prior to beckoning the end in a rebellious sing-along requiem which carries the listener through the wilderness at the heart of loneliness and loss.

lyrics

I woke today, trying to find reasons to get madder.
Drink them away, bait the wolves with the clang and the clatter.
Built your bouquet, with flowers growing by the river.
But I won't be around, long enough to see the wilt see them wither.

The outside gods, with razor teeth and marble eyes.
I woke them all, drunk and screaming in the moonlight.
I would help the wolves get fatter.

Walk through the rain, with rings of fire above our heads...

A chorus sang, the splashing tails of minnows.
The sound it bleeds, the meaty hearts of vampires.
Found your flowers growing by the river.

The outside gods, with razor teeth and marble eyes.
I woke them all, drunk and screaming in the moonlight.
